Chapter 180: The Master of Balancing Water
Chu Li glanced at Qin Yunshu, and Qin Yunshu immediately lowered her head.
She still had a low-grade fever, so her cheeks were flushed with an unnatural red, and her eyes were wet, looking very aggrieved.
Chu Li said in a deep voice, "I will make it clear here today: Yun Shu, do not come here to disturb Xingwan again in the future."
Qin Yunshu was just about to speak.
Chu Li continued, "As for apologies, there is no need for you to say them anymore. Whether Xingwan forgives you or not is her freedom; you don't need to use moral kidnapping here."
"I didn't," Qin Yunshu defended herself.
"You didn't? If you didn't, why didn't you leave when it started raining?"
All of Qin Yunshu's words were swallowed back, and tears fell.
Chu Li lowered his head to look at Cheng Wan, "And about last night... it was wrong of Xingwan to do that; I apologize to you on her behalf."
Cheng Wan raised an eyebrow. Chu Li said last night's matter was her fault?
And he was apologizing for her?
He really was a qualified master of balancing water.
But she did not accept this favor.
"Regarding last night, I will say it again: she was the one who insisted on standing in the rain; it has nothing to do with me." Cheng Wan pushed her chair back and stood up, "I don't need you to apologize for me."
"That's enough, Xingwan."
Chu Li considered this the best solution; he had never thought that Cheng Wan would be unhappy.
"Chu Li, if you feel I am an eyesore here, I can leave." Cheng Wan sneered, "As for you, Qin Yunshu, I will never forgive you."
"Cheng Wan, what exactly do you want?" Qin Yunshu could not hold on anymore.
Chu Yue threatened her, telling her she must please Cheng Wan, but Cheng Wan loathed her to the extreme, making it impossible to get close.
Cheng Wan was grabbed by Chu Li.
He also had a bit of a temper.
He was resolving this matter; after all, he was the one doing the apologizing, and she hadn't suffered any losses throughout the whole process.
Yet she was still dissatisfied.
"Xingwan, you know that standing in the rain all night in this kind of weather will cause great harm to her body." Chu Li clarified the stakes to her.
Cheng Wan said coldly, "She didn't die, did she?"
Perhaps the cold and heartless words stunned Chu Li.
"Xingwan, do you know what you are saying?"
That was a human life.
Did she not care about that either?
"I said, since she didn't die, then there is even less need for me to apologize; I did nothing wrong." Cheng Wan made her words perfectly clear.
Chu Li's hand subconsciously let go, and disbelief flashed through his eyes.
Cheng Wan had really changed.
Even if it were to accumulate blessings for the child in her womb, she shouldn't have said such things.
Cheng Wan went to the living room.
Chu Yue sighed heavily, "A Li, look at her. Every time she opens her mouth, she wishes for someone to die. How can her heart be so vicious?"
A look of gloom flashed through Chu Li's eyes, "Let's eat."
After Qin Ping'an finished eating, Cheng Wan took him upstairs.
Until she coaxed him to sleep, Cheng Wan returned to the master bedroom.
Chu Li sat on the sofa, his expression dark and heavy.
"Xingwan, are the things of the past really so hard to let go of?" he asked softly.
Cheng Wan looked at the floor-to-ceiling window; outside, it was pitch black.
"They are hard to let go of."
If she let them go, who would pay for her grandmother's vengeance and Qin Xingwan's hatred?
"You go to sleep, I'm going to the study." Chu Li stood up.
For the first time, he took the initiative to leave.
Cheng Wan stood for a long time before going to wash up and sleep.
And Chu Li did not return all night.
At breakfast, he was not there either.
The servant said in a low voice, "Sir left very early."
Cheng Wan felt a tightness in her chest. After eating some breakfast, she received a call from Lin Qingya.
"Xingwan, I've decided not to leave for now; there's no rush regarding the passport."
Cheng Wan asked hurriedly, "What happened?"
Lin Qingya was silent. After a long time, she said faintly, "I am going back to the Cheng Family."
"Qingya," Cheng Wan urged her, "Everything for going abroad has been arranged for you; don't go back to the Cheng Family."
"I can't leave anymore, Xingwan; I have to go back."
She had to go back to find out the cause of her parents' deaths.
Lin Qingya recounted what Cheng Huade had said when he came to the Yiyuan, that her parents had been silenced by someone.
"That was Cheng Huade lying to you," Cheng Wan said quickly, "Qingya, calm down."
"But I got my mother's ring." Lin Qingya suddenly choked with sobs, feeling extremely suppressed, "That ring, she always wore it."
Cheng Wan could only urge her to stay calm and rushed to the Yiyuan herself.
In the hospital room, two middle-aged women had already packed up Lin Qingya's things.
Lin Qingya had also changed out of her hospital gown.
She stood by the window, turned her head to look at Cheng Wan, her face very pale, hiding her sorrow.
"Wanwan, you're here."
Cheng Wan walked quickly to her and asked in a low voice, "It won't be too late to investigate the deaths of your uncle and aunt after you graduate and return; besides, I am here too, and I will keep an eye out for news for you."
There was no need to return to the Cheng Family.
That place had no warmth.
"I have already considered it; you don't need to persuade me." Lin Qingya opened her palm, and a simple ring appeared.
"This is my mother's ring." Lin Qingya shed tears.
Her mother had worn this ring for twenty years; Lin Qingya recognized it.
Cheng Wan's eyes grew hot, and she hugged Lin Qingya, "Qingya."
What could she do for her?
"Miss Qingya, it's all packed," the middle-aged woman urged.
Lin Qingya pushed Cheng Wan away, "Wanwan, goodbye."
She left resolutely.
A few minutes later, Cheng Han arrived.
He was panting, and looking at the room with only Cheng Wan in it, he asked anxiously, "Where is she?"
"She went back to the Cheng Family."
Cheng Han kicked the hospital bed hard; the bed shifted a few inches, making an exceptionally loud sound.
"Cheng Huade." He gritted his teeth, his hatred impossible to conceal.
He had already guessed that Cheng Huade must have discovered something, which was why he had kept Lin Qingya.
"Cheng Han, what exactly is going on?" Cheng Wan pressed, "If Qingya goes to the Cheng Family, will she be in danger?"
Cheng Han calmed down a little, "It's fine."
He could not drag Cheng Wan into this any further.
"I'll take you home."
After arriving at Beicheng Villa, Cheng Han went to find Chu Li.
The suppressed emotions in his heart finally revealed themselves, and he was exceptionally irritable.
"Cheng Huade is doing this on purpose."
"He wants to use Lin Qingya to control me."
"That old thing."
Chu Li waited until he had finished venting before asking, "So, have you made up your mind?"
Cheng Han clenched his fists, "If I agree to you, there will be no possibility for Qingya and me in this life, right?"
Chu Li did not speak.
The choice was in Cheng Han's hands.
Cheng Han was extremely dejected; he raised his hand to cover his eyes, showing not a shred of vitality.
"Actually, I never had a choice from the beginning." Cheng Han smiled bitterly, his voice low and hoarse, "I really regret not learning properly from my father back then."
Handing the company over to others.
Now, Cheng Huade was meddling in company affairs while playing the part of a qualified second uncle.
Leaving no room for anyone to find fault.
For the past three years, Cheng Han had not slept a single peaceful night.
"Chu Li, don't let Cheng Wan know about this." Cheng Han instructed in a low voice.
"I know."
Chu Li would naturally protect Cheng Wan; he did not need anyone to remind him.
Cheng Han smiled with immense sorrow, "I've decided; let's proceed according to the plan."
