The Mythic Item System is the most beastly change this game has ever seen, no contest." Three years ago, Su Xing, who had been crowned LPL's Rookie of the Year, was so fed up with the patch changes that he went on Weibo, angrily cursed Riot, and announced his retirement. Three years later, Riot finally admitted its mistake and simultaneously announced the removal of the Mythic Item System, and players finally remembered that angry-retiring pro. At the same time, the Huya streaming platform organized an "Old Man Cup" made up of retired players, and to add some hype they went to great lengths, trekking into the mountains to find this former rookie king and invite him to come out and stream. On the first day, because he publicly admitted he hadn't touched the game in two years, he was labeled a "one‑cost champ," and not a single person wanted to pick him as a teammate.

Ning: No way anyone actually thinks someone who hasn't played in three years can still beat Gold, right?

Zitai: I'd definitely pick someone strong; there's no reason to pick a one‑cost champ.

Baolan: This isn’t a bot lane game, so I won’t pick a one‑cost champ.

…

In the end, Su Xing joined the team that Uzi was on, and just when everyone assumed that a "one‑cost champ" not being sent out meant a C‑tier performance, Su Xing's play made everyone realize something was off.
